How many times have you seen some people disrespecting people at hospitality and retail centres only to take advantage of their politeness? This is more common than you can imagine. Having worked as a waiter for three months during my summer job I can attest to being a victim.
Most customers at food service places are kind and empathetic. Unfortunately, a few of them can give a really hard time to the servers. Today’s story is about a man who had enough. We might agree the man was a little severe, but it was necessary to defend the innocent worker from the furious woman.
A video went viral of a man putting a “Karen” in her place. The video was uploaded by his girlfriend, but it was taken down on YouTube by this “Karen’s” daughter. Luckily, the TikTok video is still functional, with 1.7 million views and 225k likes.
The woman was inaudibly arguing with the counter server. Meanwhile, the man decided to jump in to help the server. This is how to conversation went-
*The Karen insulting the server*
Man: Shut me up, why don’t you shut me up? I am so tired of people like you coming in and talking bad about the workers. That’s why McDonald’s can’t get workers. Who wants to sit here and listen to some b**tch talk s**t to them.
According to business insiders, there is a shortage of staff in fast food chains like McDonald’s, Subway, Dunkin’s, etc. This has resulted in the closing of dining spaces and making employees hard work harder than ever. And in this time too they have to deal with people treating them with disrespect and unkindness.
Karen: I am not talking to you, sir.
Man: Well then shut the f*** up. I just said that just shut the f*** up, b**ch.
Karen: Excuse me, can you call the police?
Can you imagine harassing someone and asking them to call the police when you are being treated the same? Well, Karen is being extra polite as she sees the camera recording.
Karen: Well then call the manager, better yet I don’t want the food.
Man: You don’t NEED the food.
The man kept the sass up until she left. He suggested she not come to McDonald’s if she didn’t feel the service was up to the mark. screamed at her and probably scared her enough to make her think twice before lashing on someone the next time.
The TikTok comments were filled in support of the man. A few commenters were waiters and servers themselves, sharing their personal stories with Karens.
We hope the scenario of treating others like a lowlife stops. Everyone has feelings and hurtful words can ruin the rest of their day. They can’t give you a taste of your medicine because you are a customer. Also, if I knew someone was making my food, I wouldn’t want to upset them.
