Announcement of her Appointment
Afterabruptly quit the network earlier this week, rumors began to circulate. Linda Yaccarino is an American media executive. She oversaw NBCUniversal’s advertising sales department. Musk tweeted on Thursday that he had discovered the ideal candidate to take over Twitter, but he did not specifically name Yaccarino as CEO.
Excited to announce the appointment of a new CEO (chief executive officer) for X/Twitter, he wrote.
“She will begin in about 6 weeks!”
“My position will change to that of the executive chair and CTO, managing product, software, and sysops.”
On May 12, a day later, Musk announced Yaccarino’s arrival.
He wrote, “I’m thrilled to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the next CEO of Twitter.
“While I concentrate on product design and new technology, @LindaYacc will largely focus on business operations.
Looking forward to working with Linda to make X, the all-encompassing app, out of this platform.
Everything App
Musk referred to Twitter’s merger with X Corp. in the tweets above.
He disclosed plans to transform Twitter into “X, the everything app” before purchasing the network for 44 billion US dollars in October.
Musk afterward stated in a tweet that “the commitment to open source transparency and accepting a wide range of viewpoints remains unchanged.”
In reaction to Musk’s tweets, it appears that the new Twitter CEO is undoubtedly up for the task.
She wrote, “Thank you @elonmusk!”
I’ve long been moved by your determination to forge a better future.
I’m eager to work with Twitter to improve this company and bring about this ambition.
“I see I have some new followers,” Yaccarino continued. Even while I’m not as active on Twitter as @elonmusk (yet! ), I’m just as dedicated to the platform’s development.
“Your suggestions are ESSENTIAL to that future. I’m present for everything.
Twitter 2.0
“Let’s continue the dialogue and create Twitter 2.0 together!”
Musk has stated that regardless of who becomes the new CEO, ‘free expression’ will remain a ‘high priority’ in the hunt.
Following his takeover, Musk declared: “Free speech is the cornerstone of a healthy democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where issues crucial to humanity’s future are discussed.
“I also want to improve Twitter with new features, make the algorithms open source to boost trust, stop spam bots, and authenticate all users to make it better than ever.
Twitter has a lot of promise, and I’m excited to work with the business and the user base to realize it.
In a tweet posted on Saturday, newly appointed Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino expressed her excitement to contribute to the platform’s transformation and how owner Elon Musk’s vision for a better future has motivated her.
First Public Remarks
Yaccarino made her first public remarks following the Thursday announcement that she was in discussions to succeed Jack Dorsey as CEO of Twitter.
I’ve long been moved by [Musk’s] commitment to building a better future. I’m eager to work with Twitter to improve this company and bring about this ambition. Tweets from Yaccarino.
Although Musk claimed Linda Yaccarino would assist in creating an “everything app,” which he has previously claimed could provide a range of services like peer-to-peer payments, his choice of an advertising veteran suggested that digital advertisements would still be the company’s primary area of concentration. Yaccarino will take over a social media company that has been struggling to recover from a decline in ad revenue and is heavily indebted.
Since Musk acquired Twitter, advertisers have abandoned the service out of fear that their advertisements would appear next to offensive content because the firm laid off almost 80% of its workers. Earlier this year, Musk recognized the dramatic drop in Twitter’s ad revenue. On the other hand, as Musk established Twitter Blue, individuals who had obtained the formerly renowned verification badge lost their historical blue ticks. Employees and Twitter users have frequently criticized Musk’s management style. People were eager to learn who the new CEO of Twitter will be when the entrepreneur revealed that it would happen soon.
Wrapping Up
Musk has previously stated his intention to select a new Twitter CEO. The appointment of Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s new CEO, according to Musk, who is also the CEO of electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Inc., will allow him to spend more time working on Tesla.
