The actual offer:
A TikTok was posted on the @aokayblends96 account on Tuesday. And it attracted more than 927,000 views since going up. This TikToker and his companion recorded themselves through the window seat at a Chick-fil-A drive-thru (located in Santa Fe Springs, a city in Los Angeles) offering the employee up to $45,000 in cash to quit her job.
And it’s more than many people make in a year.
The driver asks the employee “Will you quit your job if I give you $20,000.” The drive-thru worker seems unsure, and the driver ups the offer, adding another stack of dollars. “Would you quit for 30k dollars?”
Maybe,” the worker laughs, as she fills their order bag and is still in shock considering it a prank. They then get up to $40,000 and then $45,000, on which she asked if this offer is for her entire life?”
The proposition then clarifies,” No, if you just quit your job for today.” and adding to the sentence as she shakes her head “You can get another job,” The Chick-fil-A employee had no idea what to do in this situation so the accompanying caption repeat “That commitment is real”
VIEWERS’ POINT OF VIEW:
Commenters indicated they’d be thrilled if someone came to their drive-thru window offering a similar deal.
“it had me on ‘Would you quit your job,’” one person quipped. Indicating that how people are fed up with their jobs and want to quit abruptly when someone offers them something in order to leave their job.
Another viewer noted in the video that “Woulda, the employee, cussed everyone out and jumped out that window.”
Yet another viewer observed and said “I would have taken it as soon as possible ” and added, “It’s more than what most people be making in a year.” because in this era of inflation, expenditures are more than the person earning in a month and it is almost impossible to save money.
Some people are so eager to quit their job and have offered the money no matter how low or high the amount is. They named their price at lower than the $45,000 they ultimately offered, with various commenters weighing in with $10,000, $20,000, and $30,000, as if it were an auction.
While the other TikTokers admired her dedication to her job and not accepting the offer. The comment section was full of people who would have jumped at the offer. But at least one person tried to figure out ways to game the system, such as the commenter who wrote, “I would’ve yelled, ‘I quit,’ than text my manager, ‘I’ll be back tomorrow.’” by playing a double game of accepting the offer and actually not leaving his job.
While a whole group of commenters fell into the “why can’t this happen to me” category, one met the worker’s refusal to take the money with the reaction and complained that why this type of stuff always be happening to the wrong people.” One person wrote “i would have immediately done it. I’m a manager myself, and if anyone wanted to offer my employees that, I’d curse them for not taking it. Take it and call me when you’re ready to come back “
CRITICISM OF THE TIKTOK:
Some people are getting angry and mad over the tiktoker who’s offering the money and asking the employee to quit her job. People are finding it kinda disgusting that this guy thinks he can convince people to make life-altering decisions on a whim for his own personal enjoyment just because he’s wealthy. It shows real disrespect to the working class in their opinion.
While some people are wondering whether the money is actually real or fake and they would be worried it’s either fake or they would end up in possession of something criminal. And it’s a big risk to trust some stranger at the drive-thru.
FINAL NOTE:
From people’s point of views, some risks are worth taking for and everyone ready to take the offer and quit their job. They would take the money go on a vacation and after 3-4 months find a new job!
