We don’t talk about Bruno but let’s talk about Encanto. Disney never fails to surprise kids as well as adults. Encanto is a tale of an extraordinary family that lives in Colombia. It is a musical fantasy representing the Columbian culture and diversity.
The details from hair to clothes to the complexion are immaculate. The movie has made us all dance. But also curious. No animated movie is complete without fan theories and hidden gems list. Let’s dissect Encanto for all the details you might have missed.
1. Clothes are more than just outfits
Clothes have a major significance in the Encanto movie. Each character’s outfit represents their ability. Even Mirabel has designs inspired by many characters to represent her power to bring everyone together.

2. Camilo’s and Antonio’s name
Camilo was the name of the native who toured the Disney staff across Columbia for this movie. ‘Camilo’ is also a pun for a chameleon to represent his shapeshifting abilities.
Antonio’s name is inspired by St. Antony of Padua who loved animals.
3. Dolores avoiding loud noises
Dolores has been spotted avoiding loud noises throughout the movie. During Antonio’s celebration, she’s seen clapping with only her index fingers and covering up her ears during cheers.
4. Kids drinking coffee
It is depicted right in Encanto that kids drink coffee and it’s no big deal.
5. Inclusion of mickey silhouette
Encanto gives tribute to Mickey mouse and adds subtle silhouettes of mickey.
6. Mild cursing
Agustín is seen saying “miércoles” which means Wednesday in Spanish. What it actually refers to is that “mierda” in Spanish stands for ‘sh*t’. He’s trying to cover up for it by saying miércoles.
7. Tejo game
Columbia has a game called Tejo where people try to hit a target filled with gun powder. This was seen during the famous “Madrigal” song.
8. Alan Tudyk voice over
Alan Tudyk is a talented voice-over artist. He’s seen giving animate and inanimate object voice for Disney. Apparently, he is considered a lucky charm for Disney. In Encanto, he has seen as Pico the parrot.
9. Opposite doors
It is observed that Mirabel and Abuela are on opposite sides of the house. It might be so to represent opposite world views. Mirabel is the new generation change while Abuela is stubborn about ancient ways of life.
10. Color tones and representation
It is seen that Pepa’s side of the family wears warm colours, while Julieta’s side wears cool-tone clothes. Mirabel wears colours from both sides to represent the bond between the Madrigal family.
