Tom Turcich from New Jersey became the 10th person on this incredible journey, and he did it on May 21, 2022. His travel companion, Savannah, the dog, makes it the first four-legged companion. This triumphant moment marked the end of a seven-year journey covering 48,000 kilometres (29,826 miles) that began with walking towards the finish. The man and his dog walked for seven years around the globe together. Turcich’s friends, family, and well-wishers attended a large homecoming party for the pair.

Tom Turcich started his world tour the day before his 26th Birthday, on April 2, 2015. He walked out of his Haddon Township home’s front door to begin his journey. Anne Marie, his best friend death’s inspired him to embark on his global journey. His friend died in an accident of jet skiing when she was 16, and I was 17. He said that he gained much knowledge from walking and solitude. He has a better understanding of the world thanks to the tour.”
Catherine Turcich was understandably scared when Tom, her son, informed her that he would be spending five years travelling the world. Turcich stated that she was anxious about the whole situation. “You are concerned not only about their safety and well-being but also look forward to the future. The world tour will take many years. What’s he doing? She said it was about the five years of his life, and he will have to continue where he left off.
He documented the world tour full of unremarkable difficulties and shared it with his loved ones through social media. Tom Turcich’s constant travel companion throughout has been his dog. Turcich adopted Savannah when she was just four months old while he was passing through Texas. Tom and Savannah have travelled 22,500 miles together in 35 countries. He said his travel companion Savannah was the first dog to go on a world walk. He said I carried Savannah along with me when she was just four. Turcich wrote that Savannah can now run 30 miles daily and still runs circles at night. The world walking wasn’t easy if the true and loyal travel companion was not with me.
The Long Walk World Tour and Changes Slide-In
The restriction inserted due to the COVID-19 pandemic caused closings of border crossings which caused him to alter his travel route. And that two years of restriction caused his return to Australia a little longer. He took a flight from Kyrgyzstan to Seattle in August. Then, he spent six months returning to New Jersey at a snail’s pace. The world tour broadened his perspective, and he undoubtedly enjoyed his travel companion company.
The mother of Tom, Catherine Turcich, shared her feelings about her son’s journey. She shared how her perception changed from fear to understanding due to this event in summer and now admires it. Together with her husband Tom and daughter Lexi, she went to Croatia. In ten days of family reunions where they have traced their roots in Turcic, highlighted by an emotional long, awaited meeting with Tommy. However, Tom used to fly back home often, and this was not the first meeting after he left in 2015. He returned from Peru to celebrate Christmas in 2016 and then spent many months recuperating in the home two years after contracting an infection of a bacterial nature in Europe. Still, she is the mother, and for her, it was yet another transformation of him. she was amazed by how much the man seemed to have transformed.
As a mother, she said she is happy with his positive transformations. She said it is inspiriting to see him comfortably interacting with people out of the blue. Seeing him now has given me a different perspective and has changed a lot. He’s adopted the world tour well. And the world walking has gifted him in return by transforming him into a grown man. She added that I’m full of joy and excitement now he is back home. I’m not worried but rather thrilled to see him in his next spot in life; what will he do next.
The New Beginning for Travel Companions with the End of a World Tour
The seven years of world walking of the two companions ended up in New Jersey. However, Tom Turcich said he would like to remain at his cousin’s house in Brigantine, not for too long. He plans a trip back to Washington to visit Bonnie, his girlfriend whom he first met on the 1st of September. Turcich plans to shoot some pictures and maybe take one year to write his account of his trip that he’s dubbed “The World Walk. He said he had no plans to get back on the road. Turcich would like to spend most of his time with his family, friends, and all. He would like to stay away from roads travelling, even walking a mile. As seven years wasn’t a short duration, he is full of it and now wants to rest and enjoy being in one place.
