Katherine Heigl left Hollywood
The 44-year-old actress and her spouse, Josh Kelley, have three kids together. They are Joshua, 6; Naleigh, 14; and Adelaide, 10. Heigl and her husband, Josh Kelley, believed Utah would be a better place to raise their children.
Katherine Heigl starred as Dr. Izzie Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy from 2005 to 2010. She spent two decades establishing herself in Hollywood while residing in Los Angeles. Heigl made a very successful career out of the move, and it paid off. However, in a recent interview, Heigl explained why she chose to move from her LA base to Utah.
She said she is moving to raise her family. “I didn’t know how to parent them in LA,” she admitted to E! News. “Therefore, I believed that I could succeed here.” I could be more aware of the things that terrify me. I will know the types of friends they have and the locations they go to. She wants to know what kinds of activities they engage in and what the hell they’re doing on their phones.
Heigl has continued to work on projects that allow her to remain close to home. One such project is the TV series “Firefly Lane.”
The family now resides on a ranch
Before deciding she needed a break, Katherine Heigl spent 20 years working in Los Angeles. She left “Grey’s Anatomy” in 2010. After that, she and her musician spouse, Josh Kelley, moved to a ranch outside of Park City, Utah. Heigl emphasized that it was a location that met the criteria for a good spot to raise children.
The family now resides on a farm outside of Park City. They also have eight dogs, three cats, chickens, goats, horses, and various other creatures.
Katherine Heigl said her kids are now older and remain home when she goes on location to shoot. She claimed it was difficult for her to remove the children from the school system. After this, moving them to different towns and environments is also difficult.
Hyper-focused on family life
She referred to her Utah house as a place where “I could kind of decompress.” I let that hustle part of me go a little bit.” “I don’t know that you can ever stop hustling in any career completely.” “But it was essential to me to be able to separate it a little bit.” “I choose those times of hustle rather than just being in it constantly.”
“I had to move away from my family to deal with that aspect of what I do for a living.” “Call the kids two or three nights a week.” My cell service is poor, and my work’s Wi-Fi is weak, so I don’t FaceTime every day. You must possess the capacity to let it go. She jokingly said, “I’m sure I’ll be paying for their therapy and mine.”
When Katherine Heigl is at home, she allegedly becomes “hyper-focused on family life.”
My manager, my agent, and my lawyer all know this. They said, “Hey, you should probably read that script we sent you two weeks ago,” she added. “Right, right, right, right,” I say. I just keep my attention firmly fixed on the present.
Her wish to adopt children
Heigl revealed last month how she and her spouse, Kelly, first discussed adopting a child. She had made her wish to adopt children a non-negotiable early on in their relationship.
When I met my future husband, I was like, “I’d best get a few things straight now.” Marriage and having a family are both really important to me. Starting a family through adoption is also really important to me.
“If those things don’t speak to you, we should part ways,” she recalled telling Kelley. Thank goodness, he said, “I’m down with that!” “Adoption has always been a part of my life,” she told the British publication.
Katherine Heigl, the elder sister of Meg, was adopted from South Korea before Heigl was born. She claims, “I was born into it.” “I desired that my family resemble the one I came from.”
However, Utah is incredibly beautiful, and the people are wonderful and kind. “The drive from Los Angeles is simple, and there’s no traffic,” she added.
